🎯 Creating the web identity of a concept store

First step of the project

The first phase of the project was dedicated to research. We defined the brand values, opting for a retro, eco-friendly, vegan, DIY, and experiential approach.

After exploring several mood boards and conducting numerous experiments, we settled on the name Mam’s kit.

But why Mam’s kit? 🧐

For us, "Mam’s" is another way of saying mom, allowing us to connect our graphic charter, inspired by the 70s, with our dear moms who grew up in that era! This process also led us to expand our concept and add the baseline "Don’t steal your mom’s makeup, do it yourself", in reference to the moments when we used to sneak our moms makeup during our childhood.

Research

When the concept seemed clear enough to us, we operated in a funnel approach to find the logo.

Then we settled on an assembled logo, featuring typography and a symbol.

Why this choice?

We found it preferable for a cosmetics brand to have a responsive logo. Cosmetic brands require a wide range of applications. For instance, the same logo may not be suitable for an app icon, packaging, or advertisement.

Thanks to this logo, we capture the essence of the 70s with its bold and retro typography, reminiscent of the period's style. The "i" symbol perfectly embodies the concept of a kit, reinforcing the overall idea. This versatility allows the logo to be used in its entirety for a strong visual identity, while also offering the option of using just the icon in certain situations, providing flexibility in usage.

We rolled out a comprehensive style guide, accessible through the link below. It includes various versions of the logo, guidelines on its usage, and details about the brand's artistic direction.

Website prototype

We proceeded to prototype the website, starting with paper wireframes of the main pages. In this project, these included the home page, the product page, and the explanatory page detailing how our kits work.

Then we prototyped them using Figma.

Experience feedback

Engaging in this project replicated the challenges of a real-world scenario. Our team excelled in time management and maintaining cohesion. We were highly motivated by the subject, enabling us to dedicate ourselves fully to the task. Our attention to detail ensured the thorough completion of the project. Additionally, we had the opportunity to delve into concepts typically less explored, such as wording.
